Director of Academics

Central Christian School is seeking candidates for the position of Director of Academics. This is a full-time position that begins on July 1, 2022.

We are looking for an experienced educator who has expertise in pedagogy and curriculum development and a passion for helping teachers and Christian schools to thrive. The Director of Academics will report to the Head of School and will serve as a member of the HoS Leadership Team (along with the Director of Student Growth, Director of Operations, and Director of Admissions and Advancement) and will partner very closely with the Director of Student Growth to move the academic program of Central Christian School forward. This role will oversee faculty in order to foster their growth and development in order to best serve students. Our Director of Academics should be a Christ-follower whose relationship is defined by professing Christ as Savior and Lord and is in pursuit of spiritual growth. A bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or a related field is required (master’s degree preferred), along with at least five years teaching experience and a demonstrated leadership role in an educational setting.
Areas of focus will include, but are not limited to:
  • Facilitating the professional growth and development process for faculty
  • Conducting classroom observations and evaluating teachers, providing feedback and support as appropriate
  • Managing curriculum review, implementation, selection, and documentation
  • Co-Leading the Faculty/Staff Leadership Team
  • Supporting the school’s accreditation process and leading standards involving academic program
  • Training and mentoring new teachers throughout the school year
  • Assisting Head of School in the hiring of new teachers
  • Serving on Central’s Admissions Committee

  • Experience in working in a culturally diverse community
  • Experience in teaching and learning both in a classroom and more broadly in a school community
  • A history of professional learning in areas of curriculum, pedagogical innovation, and program development within schools
  • Demonstrated success in building/managing systems to help faculty grow professionally in their ability to enhance student learning
  • Proven success in motivating a group in order to move them forward
  • A collaborative, flexible, team-based approach to problem-solving
  • Strength in communicating ideas clearly and effectively to a faculty audience
  • Ability to receive feedback and make adjustments in response to the feedback
  • A commitment to professionalism and confidentiality
